The Austrian energy company VERBUND's subsidiary, VERBUND Green Power, has entered into a multi-year framework agreement with wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group for the potential supply of onshore wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 700 MW for upcoming wind projects in Europe. This was announced by Nordex Group in a press release.

The agreement runs until 2030 and includes the possibility of supplying up to 105 wind turbines for projects in Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Romania and Albania. According to the companies, the capacity will be able to cover around 50 percent of the of VERBUND Green Power's current wind project pipeline, subject to final approvals and commercial agreements.

- Through this multi-year framework agreement, we can contribute with wind turbine capacity to realize an ambitious project pipeline across several European markets towards 2030, says José Luis Blanco, CEO of Nordex Group.

The VERBUND Group, which is Austria's largest energy company and has traditionally had a strong position in hydropower, has in recent years intensified the expansion of wind and solar energy as part of the group's Mission V strategy. The goal is for wind and solar energy together to account for 25 percent of total electricity production by 2030. VERBUND Green Power currently has more than 1.2 GW of renewable capacity in operation in Europe and is working on both projects under construction and an extensive development portfolio.
