The joint venture KESTO, established by Danish Esvagt and South Korean KMC Line, has secured its first contract and will deliver offshore service logistics to Vestas in the Shinan-Ui offshore wind farm in South Korea from 2028 and ten years ahead. This is stated by Esvagt and KMC Line in a press release.

The agreement means that KESTO will make ships available for Vestas' service tasks both in the construction phase and in the subsequent operational phase, which is planned to run until 2039. This makes KESTO the first supplier to enter into a long-term contract for the project.

- This is an important milestone for KESTO, and we are proud to expand the collaboration with Vestas in Korea and contribute to supporting renewable energy production through our joint venture with KMC Line, says Søren Karas, CEO of Esvagt.

KESTO has initiated the new construction of two 27-meter crew transfer vessels (CTV), each with a capacity for 24 technicians. The ships will be used for daily service and maintenance on the offshore wind farm's 26 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines. The vessels are designed in Europe and built in South Korea, and delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.

- Over the years, we have built up extensive experience with safe transfer boat (STB) operations in offshore wind farms, where we have safely and efficiently transferred turbine technicians more than 350,000 times. STB operations are very similar to CTV operations, and we are confident that our experience, procedures for transferring knowledge and plans for crew training will ensure Vestas the best quality of operations, says Jacob Lykke-Kjeldsen, Senior Sales Executive at ESVAGT.

The operation will be staffed with local crews. The training will take place through KMC Line's access to South Korean maritime education institutions as well as joint training on board Esvagt's ships prior to the commissioning of the vessels.
