The Danish Energy Agency expects that more than DKK 350 million will be awarded to more than 500 energy and CO2-saving projects around the country via the Business Fund. This is the largest award since the Business Fund was first awarded in 2020.

The Danish Energy Agency's business fund is a financial subsidy for Danish companies that want to save energy and CO2 from energy-related emissions. The fund supports energy and CO2-saving projects by up to 50 percent. It was first established with the Energy Agreement 2018 as a subsidy pool for Danish businesses of more than three billion. DKK, which runs until 2029.

The Conciliation Circle decided in June 2022 that the rules for the Business Fund should be simplified in order to, among other things, make the application process less complex, and this year it has succeeded in having almost the entire year's grant pool distributed. More than DKK 350 million of the pool's total of just over DKK 378 million is expected to be sent out to companies this year to contribute to the green transition.

The Business Fund, in its new form, is expected to help the Danish business community save more than 100,000 tons of CO2 annually.

- It is really positive that so many companies have started a lot of energy and CO2-saving projects. The Business Fund was created to encourage companies to implement such projects, so that we can minimize energy consumption and CO2 emissions. We have listened to the business community and made the Business Fund more attractive to companies, and we are now seeing the results, says Stine Leth Rasmussen, Deputy Director General of the Danish Energy Agency.

The Business Fund will continue to award grants for energy and CO2 saving initiatives in companies in the coming years. Next year, even more grants will be allocated, as the fund is expected to be a full DKK 640 million for 2024. Applications for grants for projects for the calendar year 2024 can be made when the application opens today - 1 November 2023.
