The fear of hacker attacks is causing energy companies globally to significantly increase investments in IT security. A new report from DNV Cyber shows that two out of three industry professionals see cybersecurity as the biggest threat, and the vast majority of companies plan to strengthen their digital defenses to counter increasing geopolitical and technological risks. This is reported by Energiwatch.
- The cybersecurity threat is as high as it can be, said Nuno Medeiros, IT security manager at Portugal's primary electricity distributor, E-Redes, in connection with the report's release.
The Energy Cyber Priority 2025 report from DNV Cyber is based on responses from 375 energy professionals worldwide. It shows that 75 percent of companies - from small utilities to large companies with over 60 billion kroner in revenue - have increased their focus on cybersecurity as a result of growing geopolitical tensions.
