Danish Business: "Positive with more air for the windmill blades"

Funds for the expansion of special transport to West Jutland, where large wind turbine parts are transported from the factory to the Port of Esbjerg, are positive, much-needed and beneficial to production and less of a nuisance to road users and commuters, according to the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

The Transport Conciliation District at Christiansborg has decided on Friday to expand the so-called special transport corridor - the route where very large wind turbine parts are transported to the Port of Esbjerg.

The decision is met with satisfaction by the Danish Chamber of Commerce, which has long called for an expansion to ensure more efficient transport and better conditions for the wind turbine industry.

- We are very pleased that the Conciliation District has listened to the Danish Chamber of Commerce and has allocated funds for an expansion of the special transport corridor to the Port of Esbjerg. It is a project that we have long requested, says Jesper Kronborg, the industry director for transport at the Danish Chamber of Commerce, in a press release.

He explains how well-functioning transport corridors are important for wind turbine manufacturers in particular to be able to maintain production and jobs in this country.

- Today, the road network is not sufficiently dimensioned to handle the transport of wind turbine parts, which have become larger and larger in recent years. In addition to being a problem for the production companies, it also creates major inconvenience for neighbors to the road network and for the general traffic flow, he says and adds:

Therefore, it is also very positive and much needed that there will now be more space for special transports and more air in the traffic.

Danish Business also highlights as positive that the expansion of the special transport corridor is being implemented in stages and that temporary solutions are being established so that transports can continue during the construction work. According to the plan, the project is expected to be completed in 2032/33.
