LOLLAND: Nysted Strand Camping on Lolland is currently the only campsite in Denmark to have been certified with the EU Flower, which is the EU's official eco-label. The aim of the EU Flower is to reduce the overall environmental impact from production and consumption.
At the campsite in Nysted, electricity consumption is based on wind turbine power, which helps to ensure Nysted Strand Camping's sustainability seal. In addition, Nystedværet has started replacing light sources, so that there is now almost 100 percent LED lighting, some of which is sensor and time-controlled, water-reducing filters have been installed at all taps, local and island-local products are sold and no pesticides are used, but instead rainwater is used for, for example, watering flowers.
- For us, it is completely natural – both privately and professionally – to think about our consumption and take good care of the earth's resources. Therefore, it was obvious for us to go for the EU Flower, which is known throughout Europe. We are pleased that we can now help give both Danish and foreign tourists the opportunity to actively choose sustainability when they choose their vacation. At the same time, the certification is a powerful tool for us to constantly improve ourselves, says host Henrik Søby.
