The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) was set to conduct its second major offshore wind tender, which is part of the state's plans to build 2.4 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 9 GW by 2035, but due to the severe corona crisis in the state, there will now be no push to complete the tender plans before the summer, writes Green Tech Media.

A tender for a project for at least 1 GW and up to 2.5 GW was supposed to be launched, but work on this now appears to have been postponed indefinitely.

NYSERDA's first offshore wind tender went to Ørsted in partnership with Eversource Energy, which will build the 880 MW Sunrise Wind. Equinor was also awarded the 816 MW Empire Wind farm.
