Business is going well at NKT, which has been producing cables in Denmark since 1891. The manufacturer is therefore now increasing its commitment to the factory in Asnæs, so that production can continue in the future. A ceremonial step in the expansion was taken on Monday, when NKT broke ground on the new building.

The expansion of the factory is necessary as NKT is experiencing increasing demand for its power cable solutions. To meet this increasing demand and strengthen its strong market position, NKT has chosen to invest further in the medium-voltage cable business, which includes, among other things, a significant expansion of the factory in Asnæs.

The expansion includes the construction of a new factory hall and new testing facilities. The factory in Asnæs has existed since 1965 and currently has approximately 200 employees. NKT expects to hire around 100 new employees in connection with the expansion, which is expected to be completed in 2026.

- A robust and expanded electricity grid is essential for the exploitation of the increased integration of renewable energy and the continued electrification of society. With our expertise, experience and technology, we are in a good position to continue as a leading partner when it comes to the safe expansion and renewal of the electricity grid. Our expansion of the factory in Asnæs underlines our ambitions and strengthens our ability to serve our customers in the best possible way, says Claes Westerlind, CEO of NKT.

"Applications" is a business area for NKT with a focus on low and medium voltage cables. Applications' primary production sites are located in Denmark, the Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, the UK and Portugal. Applications employs approximately 1,500 people across Europe and achieved a turnover of 638 million. euros in 2023.
