There will be a battle election at the Liberal Party on who will replace Mayor Hans Østergaard (V) as the party's mayoral candidate at KV25.
Today, the vice-chairman of Agriculture & Food, Lone Andersen, has registered as a candidate for the position. The chairman of the party's city council group, Erik Viborg, has already announced that he is running.
Lone Andersen previously served on the municipal council in 2009-2013, where she was, among other things, on the finance committee. Her candidacy comes after a meeting in the Liberal Party Ringkøbing-Skjern Syd on Thursday evening, she says.
- For 11 years I have worked with national and international politics. I have learned an incredible amount from that, and if I can be allowed to use that knowledge in my own municipality, then of course I would like to, says Lone Andersen, who announced in July that she will not run again when this period as vice-chairman of Agriculture & Food expires in the autumn.
Represents West Jutland
The chairman of the southern voters' association, Torben Lund Hansen, calls it a gift that Lone Andersen "has chosen to come home after many years of faithful service with Denmark's largest agricultural organization".
- For a number of years, we have been able to follow Lone's important work, where she has represented West Jutland in many contexts both at home and abroad. That is why she is our strongest card as a mayoral candidate for the Liberal Party, he says.
Lone Andersen is 60 years old, and in addition to being vice-chairman of Agriculture & Food, she is also chairman of Family Farming. She lives on a farm in Lyne with her husband and has three children and soon five grandchildren.
The party's choice of mayoral candidate will be decided at a members' meeting on October 24.
According to Herning Folkeblad, Mayor Hans Østergaard announced a week ago that he supports Erik Viborg as the party's mayoral candidate.
Previously, Mads Fuglede of the Danish Democrats has also entered the race for the mayor's post in the West Jutland municipality with a desire for a showdown with the energy policy in the municipality.
