European Energy has commissioned its first solar farm in Australia, the Mokoan solar farm, located in the state of Victoria and has a capacity of 58 MW. The energy company announced this in a statement.
Australia is undergoing a large-scale energy transition, with the government aiming to deliver an additional 33,000 GWh of electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The Mokoan solar farm will contribute to producing approximately 113 GWh of electricity annually and reducing CO2 emissions by more than 85,000 tonnes. The company sees great potential in the Australian market.
- We are thrilled to have completed our first project in Australia just two years after establishing our office in the country," says Catriona McLeod, VP and Head of Australia at European Energy.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, European Energy has entered into an agreement with the First Nations Bailai Gurang Gooreng Gooreng Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporation to responsibly develop renewable energy projects on their land.
- We are experiencing almost boundless interest in the expansion of renewable energy in Australia. Our development pipeline in the country has grown enormously in the few years we have been present, making Australia one of our most promising markets, says EVP and Head of Project Development at European Energy Thorvald Spanggaard.
