The Danish Democrats are proposing an immediate halt to the government's plans to install solar power plants around the country. This is what chairwoman Inger Støjberg (DD) says before the party's national conference on Saturday.

- A lot of those who live in the countryside have moved there to use and live with nature. Not to stare into an iron field. The houses near these plants will also decrease in value, she says.

The solar power plants are part of the government's energy parks, which are to produce 20 GW of electricity in 2030. That's equivalent to 11 million households, says Inger Støjberg, and according to her, it's not necessary at all.

Instead, she suggests that work be initiated to clarify how much green electricity is actually needed to cover Denmark's energy needs. After that, solar cells can be placed on the roofs of public buildings to cover the need.

- I think that iron fields look terrible. For me, solar cells belong on the roofs and not on good agricultural land, says Inger Støjberg.

Most parks are to be located in Jutland

The government has already designated 26 places where the energy parks are to be built. 24 are to be located in Jutland. Two are to be set up on Zealand. With the Danish Democrats' proposal, that distribution will also become fairer, Inger Støjberg believes.

- Then the solar cells can go up on the roofs in, for example, Copenhagen or other large cities, she says.

Right now there are a number of rules that make it both expensive and difficult to get permission to set up solar cells on public buildings. Inger Støjberg agrees that it is probably a more expensive solution than the current one.

- But that's how it has to be. It can't be right that people have the value of their house and their dream of living in the countryside destroyed, she says.

At the same time, the Danish Democrats promise in connection with the municipal elections next year that the party will not help set up solar parks in local areas that do not want them. However, it is the municipalities themselves that have bid and approved the places where the solar panels will be placed.

- A municipality can make a decision that bothers the citizens, and this is what happens here. That's why we will go to the polls on the basis that no one should have to worry about this if they don't want to, says Inger Støjberg.

The energy parks, including the solar panels, are an important part of achieving the Danish climate goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 70 percent by 2030. With the Danish Democrats' proposal, it may not be possible to achieve this.

- I don't know if it will take longer. But the Earth won't end if we reach the goal in 2032 or 2034, says the party chairman.
