The Danish Democrats propose an immediate stop to the government's plans to set up solar power plants around the country. This is what chairman Inger Støjberg (DD) says before the party's national meeting on Saturday.
- A great many of those who live in the countryside have moved there to use and live with nature. Not to stare into an iron field. The houses at these facilities will also fall in value, she says.
The solar installations are part of the government's energy parks, which must produce 20 GW of power in 2030. This corresponds to 11 million households, says Inger Støjberg, and according to her, it is not necessary at all.
Instead, she suggests that work be initiated that clarifies how much green power is actually needed to cover Denmark's energy needs. Solar cells can then be placed on the roofs of public buildings to cover the need.
- I think iron fields look terrible. For me, solar cells belong on roofs and not on good agricultural land, says Inger Støjberg.
Most parks are to be located in Jutland
The government has already designated 26 locations where the energy parks are to be built. 24 to be located in Jutland. Two are to be set up on Zealand. With the Danish Democrats' proposal, that distribution will also become fairer, believes Inger Støjberg.
- Then the solar cells can go up on the roofs of, for example, Copenhagen or other large cities, she says.
Right now there are a number of rules that make it both expensive and difficult to be allowed to install solar cells on public buildings. Inger Støjberg agrees that it is probably a more expensive solution than the current one.
- But that's how it has to be. It cannot be right that people have the value of their house and their dream of living in the countryside destroyed, she says.
At the same time, the Danish Democrats promise in connection with the municipal elections next year that the party will not help to set up solar parks in local areas that do not want it. However, it is the municipalities themselves that have submitted bids and approved locations where the solar systems are to be placed.
- A municipality can make a decision that bothers the citizens, and it does so here. Therefore, we will go to the election on the basis that no one should have this pulled over their heads if they do not want it, says Inger Støjberg.
The energy parks and including the solar installations are an important part of achieving the Danish climate target of reducing CO2 emissions by 70 per cent. in 2030. With the Danish Democrats' proposal, it may not be possible to achieve it.
- I don't know if it will take longer. But the Earth will not perish because we reach the goal in 2032 or 2034, says the party chairman.
