RINGKØBING-SKJERN: Where should solar cells and wind turbines be installed? When should it happen? And why? These three questions are central to the dialogue and citizen meeting that Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality is inviting to on Monday, June 24, from 5-9 p.m. The meeting will be based on the 26 applications that 12 project developers and private landowners have submitted to the municipality in an application round held last year, the municipality states in a statement.

- It is too early to say exactly where new energy plants are planned, but now is the time for us to debate the location of the plants with the municipality's citizens, says Mayor Hans Østergaard (V).

Prior to the meeting, the city council held a theme meeting on May 30, where they were given a preliminary review of the 26 applied for renewable energy projects over the course of four packed hours - and an opportunity to discuss needs and priorities thoroughly. Based on the debate at the theme meeting, 28 of 29 city council members recently issued a press release in which they stated that they agree to aim to find 1,000 hectares for solar cells. This is the number of solar cells needed in Phase 1 of the Megaton project.
