The Danish fuel cell developer, ShipTown, has become a member of the Hydrogen Industry and is bringing its reversible fuel cell technology to the network. Hydrogen Industry announced this in a statement.
ShipTown works with so-called reversible alkaline fuel cell technology, also known as AFC. On this basis, the company has developed the product H-Battery, which can produce hydrogen from excess green electricity and later convert it into electricity again during periods of deficit in the electricity grid.
- Our technology, H-Battery – a reversible alkaline fuel cell – adds a new dimension to the Danish energy system by not only enabling peak-shaving, but also peak-covering. This means that we deliver green, stable electricity – even when there is no wind and it is cloudy. This makes it possible to balance large amounts of renewable energy over a longer period of time, precisely through storage in green hydrogen. This is crucial for building a fossil-free and flexible energy system. We look forward to collaborating with the Hydrogen Industry and its members in the joint effort to accelerate the green transition, says Marie Vedel Lauridsen, CEO of ShipTown.
