The energy group Verdo, which is based in Randers, is looking for a new CEO. The former Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen has just been presented as the next CEO of Danske Fragtmænd, where he will take over from the haulage company's long-time CEO Jørn P. Skov, who died in March after a short illness. Verdo said this in a press release.
- Actually, I had imagined that I would be at Verdo for many more years and help unleash the great potential that exists in our many activities and business areas. But suddenly an opportunity arose that I had not seen coming – and that I could not say no to, says Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen in connection with the announcement of the new job.
The soon-to-be former CEO emphasizes that he has been incredibly happy with the years at Verdo.
- I am proud of the development and the results that I have led and helped to implement together with Verdo's more than 600 dedicated employees. Because Verdo contributes in many ways to society – both to the green transition in a larger perspective and to the development of the local communities where we are present. My job change should therefore not be seen as a rejection of Verdo, but as an addition to Danske Fragtmænd, he says.
Verdo's chairman of the board Torben Høeg Bonde is disappointed to have to say goodbye to Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen, who he believes has managed the company well through a challenging period. However, he believes that the right replacement is out there.
- I would like to congratulate Jakob and thank him for his great efforts. His great commitment, strategic skills and strong values have moved Verdo, so that the company today is in a completely different place than when he joined in January 2020. And this despite the fact that the past five years have offered plenty of challenges such as corona, geopolitical unrest and the energy crisis - all of which have affected Verdo to a great extent. I and the rest of the board have been very happy with the collaboration, and therefore it is naturally a shame that he will soon be moving on to a new job. At the same time, I am completely comfortable with having to hand over the reins to a new CEO,
Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen, who has been CEO of Verdo since 2020, will continue at Verdo for a period of time while Verdo looks for his replacement. However, it is a transitional period that will run until May 31 at the latest, when he will officially take up his position as CEO of Danske Fragtmænd no later than June 1, 2025.
