Last week, TotalEnergies announced in a market release that Tyra was expected to reach full technical capacity no later than November 15 and possibly as early as November 5. The actual date ended up being somewhere in between.

Thus, TotalEnergies EP Denmark, on behalf of the Danish Underground Consortium, announced in a press release that it reached full technical capacity on Sunday. Full technical capacity means that all necessary machinery at the new Tyra plant is now ready for full operation.

This is a milestone that has been worked on since the first gas was exported from the new Tyra plants to Denmark in March 2024. Unforeseen challenges with two transformers that supply power to the important gas compressors delayed the full commissioning, which was originally planned for July.

- I am very pleased that the new Tyra plants have now achieved full technical capacity. Thanks to a great effort from all involved, we have resolved the challenges and completed the necessary repairs before the winter season, says Ole Hansen, CEO of TotalEnergies EP Denmark.

In the coming time, the focus will be on establishing the gas flow from the Tyra field and the surrounding satellite fields to achieve full production from the entire Tyra hub.

- Our priority is now to bring Tyra up to full production in a safe manner and once again make Denmark a net exporter of gas. With an expected production of 2.8 billion cubic meters per year, Tyra will play an important role in ensuring energy security and independence for Denmark and Europe, says Ole Hansen.

When Tyra has reached a production plateau, it is expected to account for approximately six percent of the EU's natural gas production.
