Topsoe's CEO for the past six years, Roeland Baan, has decided to step down with effect from 31 May 2026. At the same time, the company has appointed the current commercial director, Elena Scaltritti, as the new CEO, effective 1 June 2026. The company announced this in a press release.
Roeland Baan will continue as CEO until the handover in June. He took office in 2020 and has since led a comprehensive transformation.
The company highlights, among other things, the name change from Haldor Topsoe to the current Topsoe and that Roeland Baan has strengthened the company's position as a supplier of technology for green transition and fuel production. Under Baan's leadership, the company has also opened Europe's largest SOEC electrolysis plant and a new catalyst factory in Texas, and established the Zaffra joint venture with Sasol to advance the production of sustainable aviation fuel.
- Roeland was brought in to transform Topsoe. In six very crucial years for the company, he has done so successfully. He has transformed the company and positioned it as a globally recognized player in advanced technologies for fuel conversion and increased revenue. He is a visionary leader who makes things happen and has led Topsoe through major changes without losing sight of what makes the company special. CCO takes over
The replacement has been found internally in the form of Elena Scaltritti, who has been at Topsoe since 2022, where she has been responsible for strengthening the company's position within low-emission and renewable fuels as well as for the growth in the more traditional business areas. Before her time at Topsoe, she was Executive Vice President of SONGWON Industrial Group.

Elena Scaltritti will now lead the next phase of Topsoe's development with a focus on scaling the company's technology and meeting changing market conditions and customer needs. Roeland Baan will continue in his role as CEO of Topsoe until the handover to Elena Scaltritti on June 1, 2026.
