Earlier this year, there was a short-term work stoppage for employees on Total Energies-operated platforms in the North Sea. The reason was a disagreement over wages, and since then six negotiations have failed to reach an agreement. This has led to frustration among employees, who are now considering a strike that could potentially paralyze Danish oil and gas production. It says JydskeVestkysten.

The media has spoken to a number of anonymous offshore employees who are organized in 3F Transport Esbjerg. It is particularly at Total Energies' subcontractor Altrad, which has 600 employees on Total Energies' platforms, that dissatisfaction with the salary, which with supplements can reach DKK 215 per hour, prevails. Altrad's employees have not received salary increases on par with their colleagues in other subcontractors such as Semco Maritime and their Altrad colleagues onshore. Therefore, the employees hope that they can get support from other 3F members for a strike, which could, for example, slow down helicopter traffic and supplies from the port of Esbjerg to the North Sea.

At 3F Transport Esbjerg, union employee Per Dam confirms that members in the department are frustrated by the lack of results from the wage negotiations. However, he indicates that he has not heard of the possibility of a strike. The CEO of Altrad Services A/S also indicates that he is not aware of a possible work stoppage.
