ODSHERRED: Several citizens in Odsherred Municipality have joined forces to terminate their contracts with the scandal-hit Odsherred Varme.

The citizens' dissatisfaction is due to the fact that the contract they have entered into with Odsherred Forsyning's subsidiary, Odsherred Varme, has changed several times since it was concluded and has resulted in price increases of 68 percent. Odsherred Varme has also demanded several hundred thousand kroner if the customers want to withdraw from the contract.

Now, the Appeals Board has ruled in favor of a customer in a new decision, and according to Pernille Wohlfart, chairman of the citizens' association Fair Fjernvarme Odsherred, this opens the way for more customers to be allowed to withdraw. This is reported by TV 2 ØST.

- If it applies to the customer in Højby, then it also applies to all the other almost 400 new customers they have managed to connect, she says.

This is the third time that the Appeals Board has ruled in a case regarding the withdrawal of Odsherred Varme. In the previous two, the outcome was also in the customers' favor. But whereas in these two cases the customers concerned were not yet connected to the district heating network, in this case the customer concerned was a customer who had been connected.

Rejects the decisions

Last week TV2 ØST wrote that Odsherred Varme would not follow the Appeals Board's decision in the first two cases.

The explanation from the company's chairman of the board was, among other things, that Odsherred Varme is under reconstruction and has had its debt reduced by 750 million. DKK, which obliges the company to do its utmost to repay the remaining debt.

- The company also does not want to risk that the decisions from November create a precedent for more district heating customers, said the chairman of the board, explaining that this could have major consequences for Odsherred Varme's finances.

Odsherred Varme can choose not to follow the decisions without consequences, as the Appeals Board's decisions are not legally binding. Therefore, the next step for the affected customers is to take the cases to the courts.
