RINGKØBING-SKJERN: Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality has allied itself with the Copenhagen law firm Bech-Bruun in a lawsuit against the biogas company Naturbiogas Ejstrup ApS, demanding just over DKK 2.1 million in damages and invalidity of the planning process behind two biogas projects. This is reported by Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern.
The demand is due to the fact that three city council members – Ole Knudsen, Rita Byskov and Marie Kamp From – were declared incompetent by the Danish Appeals Board, but nevertheless participated in the consideration and vote on the biogas projects in August 2023.
The company believes that investments in consulting, promotion, marketing and development of the Ejstrup project have been wasted as a result of the municipality's decision to stop the project. Lawyer and partner Jacob Schall Holberg from Bech-Bruun will represent the municipality and demand acquittal. The case has not yet been scheduled, but may drag on, as the Planning Appeals Board is simultaneously processing a complaint about the same question of competence. A decision is expected in September.
