While politicians at Christiansborg are discussing what to do about the extremely high electricity prices, there is a man in Fredericia who is already doing something - for the benefit of both the climate and the wallet. This is reported by Avisen Danmark.
Henrik Møller Jørgensen has created his own computer program that can predict how the price of electricity will develop. So you have a chance to start the washing machine and charge your electric car when the electricity is cheapest.
Henrik Møller Jørgensen calls himself a geek. However, he is not just any geek. He is thus both a civil engineer and has knowledge of the electricity market, as he has been responsible for energy trading for hundreds of millions of kroner at Fjernvarme Fyn and currently sits on the board of the electricity company Ewii.
- For me, it's about the green transition, says Henrik Møller Jørgensen, who shares his tips on the Facebook page "Greener electricity consumption".
His latest forecast reports expensive electricity on Friday, more moderate prices on Saturday. But only low prices around Wednesday next week.
- So far my forecasts have held up, he says with a satisfied expression.
In order to hit the price, a small computer continuously harvests a lot of data, such as the wind strength at Horns Rev, the water level behind the dams in Norway and the historical development of electricity prices. And his forecast for the electricity price is at least as reasonable as the weather forecast from DMI, he believes:
- While the weather forecast will predict what the temperature will be on a given day, I only have to predict when the electricity price will reach the next low and the next high. I don't predict what the price will be exactly, he tells Avisen Danmark.
