FREDERIKSHAVN: On Friday, 24 out of the 29 city council members in Frederikshavn reached a budget settlement for 2025-2028. Only the Liberal Party is outside the budget agreement, which was reached between the Social Democrats, the Conservatives, the Socialist Party, the Danish People's Party, the Danish People's Party, the Danish Democrats and the independents Peter Sørensen and Erik Kyed Trolle.
The takeover of Frederikshavn Port entails an additional task for the municipality's budgeting in the coming years, until the port can manage itself again. The financing of the annual deficit from the port of 62 million DKK is mainly through reductions in construction projects in the municipality and operational optimizations at the port.
At the end of April, the board of Frederikshavn Port announced that the port could no longer be operated as a municipal self-governing port due to a debt of 1.7 billion DKK and a liquidity shortage of over 100 million DKK. DKK in the coming years. In May, a unanimous city council voted to take back the port.
The compromise parties have also agreed on an extraordinary repayment of loans for DKK 54.9 million, which will release DKK 11.8 million annually for operations and welfare.
More money for welfare
Among the budget changes are a number of additions to the welfare areas. In 2025, DKK 7 million will be allocated to the primary school, which will ensure the quality of the school, camp school, classroom management and 2-adult initiatives. The elderly area will be allocated DKK 10 million, which will, among other things, strengthen efforts for citizens with dementia and for various welfare funds. The city council will also ensure that the well-being and health of the elderly area's employees are prioritized, and that there is a strong professional connection and development.
Frederikshavn also has an increasing number of children and young people who are not thriving, and therefore maintains the increase in the family area's budget by 6 million DKK annually. In addition, the adult disability area will receive 1 million DKK annually.
