Equinor and Shell have now completed the establishment of Adura, a new joint venture that will become the largest independent producer in the UK North Sea. Adura is owned 50/50 by the two energy giants and brings together their UK offshore activities in one portfolio.

The new company will take ownership interests in 12 producing fields, including Mariner, Rosebank and Buzzard, as well as several projects under development and a number of exploration permits. Adura will be headquartered in Aberdeen, with employees from both Shell and Equinor transferring to the new organization.
According to Neil McCulloch, Adura will combine decades of North Sea experience with greater scale and flexibility. Both owners expect the company to strengthen the role of the UK North Sea in meeting the country's energy needs and creating long-term value.
