FREDERIKSHAVN: Municipal Director of Frederikshavn Thomas Eriksen will continue in his job. This is clear after politicians in the municipality held a crisis meeting at the mayor's office on Tuesday evening. This is reported by Nordjyske. The municipal director explained the context of the case, and it was established that there is trust in him, the media outlet writes.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Birgit S. Hansen (S) as well as all the city council group chairmen and the two independents Erik Kyed Trolle and Peter Sørensen.

The reason was a meeting that Thomas Eriksen held with journalists from the local media Nordjyske in April, where he presented confidential information in the current case about the crisis-stricken Frederikshavn Port, which the municipality has recently taken back.

The municipal director himself has denied that these are secret documents that he has presented to the journalists.

"Most of it would be crossed out"

In the invitation to the meeting, the municipal director had written to the journalists that they could see what "is up and down in these things, without you being given the documents. You can of course apply for access to the documents, but then most of it will be crossed out."

Only 18 days before the meeting, Thomas Eriksen himself filed a police report due to suspicion of a leak of confidential documents from a closed city council meeting about Frederikshavn Port.

- It is strange that the municipal director gives that information with one hand, and with the other hand he reports the municipal council to the police for breaking secrets, Frederik Waage, professor of administrative law from the University of Southern Denmark, previously told Nordjyske.
