US President Donald Trump is urging Cuba to make a deal with the US. The president wrote on his social media, Truth Social, on Sunday.

- There will be no more oil or more money coming to Cuba. Zero! I strongly urge them to make a deal before it's too late, he wrote.

Donald Trump does not elaborate on what a possible deal should contain. Nor does he elaborate on what is meant by "before it's too late".

The US administration has put pressure on Cuba in the past week, following the US attack on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. Donald Trump has previously stated that Cuba will be a focus area for the US government and has called Cuba a "failed nation".

Secretary of State Marco Rubio subsequently continued the threats and stated in an interview with NBC News that the communist regime in the country was in "big trouble".

Donald Trump has also stated that he does not imagine that it will be necessary for the US to intervene militarily in Cuba, as the regime "appears to be falling". Cuba is among Venezuela's closest allies in South America.

According to the Cuban government, 32 Cubans were killed in connection with the US capture of Nicolás Maduro.

Cuba receives large amounts of oil from Venezuela, but now there are indications that Donald Trump intends to cut off the country from receiving oil. However, he does not elaborate on what is meant by no more money coming to Cuba.

On Sunday, Donald Trump also retweeted a post from X, in which a user suggested that Marco Rubio would be the next president of Cuba.

- Sounds good to me, writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Meanwhile, Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, wrote on the social media X on Sunday that "right and justice are on Cuba's side". This is reported by AFP.

In addition, he believes that the United States "is behaving like an uncontrolled criminal that threatens peace and security, not only in Cuba and in this hemisphere, but throughout the world".
