DI is upset about the pause in the expansion of the Port of Aarhus: It affects Danish competitiveness

The Social Democrats, the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party in Aarhus Municipality have just decided to put the plans for the expansion of the Port of Aarhus on hold. And this decision will have major consequences for Danish business, says a press release from DI.

- I am extremely disappointed that the conciliation group behind the port expansion is running from an agreement that has already been made. Denmark is a trading country, and we need a port expansion that ensures Danish business's connection to the whole world via the Port of Aarhus, says Karsten Lauritzen, industry director at DI Transport, and continues:

- Sea freight is the most climate-friendly and cost-effective form of transport of goods. Therefore, it is a defeat for Danish business, and it will have negative consequences for our competitiveness, which we will have to live on in the future, he says.

The conciliation group emphasizes that the state must get involved in the expansion of the Port of Aarhus if the plans are to be realized. And that call is shared by Karsten Lauritzen.

- The state should engage in the expansion of ports of national interest. I would like to encourage the government to do what it can to ensure the expansion here, so that we can future-proof Denmark's trade, supply and security interests, says Karsten Lauritzen.
