Monday was the last day of the fourth quarter, and quarterly closings often mean a lot of order announcements from Vestas. However, Monday was not exactly a huge storm of announcements. Announcements were made about four final orders with a total output of 144 MW.
More notable, however, was the presentation of a conditional order of a whopping 1.1 GW for the Inch Cape project in Scotland, which is being built in the North Sea 15 km off the coast of the Scottish municipality of Angus.
For the Scottish project, Vestas will deliver 72 V236-15.0 MW as well as a "long-term" service agreement.
- We are very pleased to have signed this agreement for a crucial project for Scotland's offshore wind industry, and our team is truly excited to contribute to this milestone together with ESB and Red Rock Renewables, says Nils de Baar, Head of Vestas Northern & Central Europe.
According to the current schedule, the installation of the wind turbines is expected to begin in 2026, and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2027.
In order for the project to become an unconditional order for Vestas, "certain standard conditions are still outstanding," the wind turbine manufacturer says, which will announce when the conditions are finally in place and the order thus becomes final.
Four smaller orders
The other orders announced on Monday are, however, final. Two come from the European market.
The largest is from Italy, where Libeccio has ordered seven V162-6.2 MW in 6.4 MW power mode for a total of 45 MW and an 18-year AOM 5000 service agreement for the Vento de Vino 2 project. The second European order comes from Altano Energy for the Spanish project Dama de Baza. For this, Vestas will deliver 41 MW in the form of nine V163-4.5 MW and a 15-year AOM 5000 service agreement.
There was also an order from Japan, where Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. has ordered 34 MW for the Shiroishi Kosugo project, which will be delivered via eight V117-4.2 MW and a 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement.
The last order of the day comes from an undisclosed customer for a project in Costa Rica. Here, Vestas will deliver eight 8 V117-4.3 MW turbines as well as a five-year AOM5000 service agreement.
