VELUX FONDEN has decided to support the Think Tank Hav with a grant of DKK 75 million over five years. The funds will ensure that the think tank can continue to gather knowledge and contribute to dialogue and analyses about the marine environment and marine ecosystems.
VELUX FONDEN informs in a press release.
According to the foundation, marine ecosystems are under pressure, and there is a need for more knowledge and solutions that can support a healthier marine environment. The grant will be used, among other things, to work on ecosystem restoration, the balance between commercial exploitation and nature conservation, and the reduction of pollution in the sea.
- The Think Tank Hav has quickly and successfully established itself as a valuable, independent player that has created concrete results, provided unique knowledge and strengthened dialogue and cooperation between researchers, civil society, companies and decision-makers on the challenges of the sea. Therefore, we find it obvious to fund the think tank's further work, says Lykke Kann Ogstrup Lunde, who is the head of the VELUX FOUNDATION.
The think tank Hav was established in 2021 at the initiative of the Velux Foundation, which sent a grant of 75 million DKK with the initiative. The think tank has, among others, Ørsted, Energinet and Green Power Denmark among its 40 members. In its first five years, the think tank Hav has, among other things, contributed with analyses in connection with the agreement on the green tripartite, fisheries agreements with trawl-free areas and requirements for nature in offshore wind tenders.
With the new grant, the think tank will continue its work of gathering knowledge, involving stakeholders and contributing with proposals for concrete initiatives that can improve the marine environment nationally and internationally.
