In the German town of Schipkau in the state of Brandenburg, work is underway to build the world's tallest onshore wind turbine. The experimental turbine, developed by the company Gicon, will have a hub height of 300 meters and a total height of 365 meters. The project is expected to be completed in 2026. This is reported by Ingeniøren based on several German media.

The turbine will be equipped with a 3.8 MW turbine from Vensys with a blade diameter of 126 meters. The record-breaking construction is based on a telescopic solution with two towers – an outer and an inner – where the inner tower can be raised like an elevator, so that the turbine can be installed at a lower height before the entire construction is lifted to its full height. According to Gicon, the turbine will take advantage of the stronger and more stable wind conditions at high altitudes. The project is financed by Beventum GmbH, which is part of the Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen (SPRIND).

- We expect yields that are actually only known from offshore installations, says Jochen Großmann, CEO of Gicon.
