RANDERS: At the end of August, the police came to the conclusion that there was no basis for bringing cases of financial fraud against the Verdo group's companies or of abuse of office against Randers Municipality's former mayor Claus Omann Jensen (V) or his then municipal manager Hans Nikolaisen too. The State Attorney has now agreed with that assessment, writes Randers Amtsavis.
In total, seven police reports were filed in the case, which, among other things, alleged that in a period from 2000 to 2017, Verdo collected amounts from customers without legal authority. The case has, among other things, led to the Norwegian Supply Authority twice ordering Verdo to refund a total of DKK 646 million. DKK, which the energy company's customers had paid too much for. But with the State Attorney's decision, the matter has now been put to rest.
- We are happy that we can now put the reviews behind us and focus on what we are here for. It is clear that the case has filled a lot and required a lot of resources from the employees, says the current managing director of Verdo, Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen.
