RANDERS: At the end of August, the police concluded that there was no basis for filing cases of financial fraud against the Verdo Group companies or of abuse of office against Randers Municipality's former mayor Claus Omann Jensen (V) or his then municipal director Hans Nikolaisen. The State Attorney has now agreed with this assessment, writes Randers Amtsavis.
A total of seven police reports were filed in the case, which, among other things, alleged that Verdo collected amounts from customers without legal authority in a period from 2000 to 2017. The case has, among other things, has led to the Danish Electricity Authority twice ordering Verdo to refund a total of 646 million DKK, which the energy company's customers had overpaid. But with the decision of the State Attorney, the case has now been put to rest.
- We are happy that we can now put the reports behind us and focus on what we are here for. It is clear that the case has taken a lot of time and required a lot of resources from the employees, says the current CEO of Verdo, Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen.
