The government is allocating 138 million DKK, which will help ensure the transport of large wind turbine elements in Denmark. The Ministry of Business and Industry announced this in a press release on Friday. Together with four municipalities, the government will finance an expansion of the road network from Brande and Give to the Port of Esbjerg. The municipalities – Esbjerg, Vejle, Ikast-Brande and Billund – will pay the costs of upgrading the municipal roads, while the state will co-finance the upgrade of the state roads.

The road network will be expanded from the companies Welcon and Siemens Gamesa's production facilities in Brande and Give to the Port of Esbjerg. To TV Midtvest, the latter expresses its joy over the expansion plans, as the infrastructure in the area has become inadequate as the wind turbine components have become larger.

"Expansion of the special transport corridor to the Port of Esbjerg is good news for Danish development and production of wind turbine components, Siemens Gamesa writes in a written statement to the media.

The company points out that Danish development and production of wind turbine elements contributes with thousands of jobs, export income and growth – especially in South, Central and West Jutland. Therefore, Siemens Gamesa describes it as positive that political priority has now been given to funds to strengthen the connection between the producers in Central and West Jutland and the shipping port in Esbjerg.
