Earlier this week, Siemens Gamesa received the first order for its new SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine, but it didn't take long for the next order to come in, writes offshorewind.biz.
It is the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project (CVOW), which is planned to have a capacity of a whopping 2.64 GW, that has now chosen the new Siemens Gamesa giant.
Dominion Energy is responsible for the development of CVOW, which has also worked closely with Ørsted on offshore wind at a pilot project in Virginia. The installation of the turbines for CVOW is expected to be completed in 2026.
