Companies that trade in electricity should not be able to make bonus agreements without a ceiling. This is the opinion of SF, which wants legislation in the area.

- We will have to demand that bonuses do not skyrocket, says Signe Munk, SF's climate and energy spokesperson.

Three employees were temporarily suspended on Sunday in a case involving three-digit million bonuses in the joint-stock company Energi Danmark. Andel, which owns Energi Danmark together with NRGI, announced this on behalf of Energi Danmark.

It also appears here that the bonus agreement that would give the employees the million-dollar bonuses was entered into illegally and is invalid. The agreement was without a ceiling.

The business media Finans has previously described that two senior employees had earned three-digit million-dollar bonuses totaling 550 million. DKK. Berlingske has since written that it was three employees.

- Electricity prices will fluctuate more and more in the future, and it will be an industry where a lot of money can be made, says Signe Munk.

She has urged Tax Minister Jeppe Bruus (S) and Climate, Energy and Utilities Minister Lars Aagaard (M) to initiate work on the legislation.

Energy groups have met with the minister

A number of energy groups met with Lars Aagaard last week. Among them was Andel. After the meeting, the minister said that, among other things, he had made it clear that he expected "the industry and the individual energy companies to act responsibly".

- The representatives from the industry have informed me that they distance themselves from and will not pay out the three-digit million bonuses mentioned in the case, and that the industry's policy is that there must be a cap on bonuses that can be defended and explained by the sector, said Lars Aagaard.

Jesper Hjulmand, who is chairman of the board of Energi Danmark, has previously stated that employees will not be paid bonuses of either two- or three-digit million amounts. In addition, the company has bonus schemes for a selected group of employees.

- There is a cap/ceiling on these bonus schemes, which is our clear policy in this area, Hjulmand has stated.

According to Energi Danmark, the three employees had entered into a collective agreement with the former CEO without the board of directors knowing about it. The three employees were suspended on Sunday because the parties failed to reach an agreement on the bonus situation through dialogue.
