Cadeler has awarded Semco Maritime a contract for ship modifications as part of the upgrade of the crane capacity of Cadeler's two O-class wind farm installation vessels (WFIV), Wind Orca and Wind Osprey. Semco Maritime knows the vessels well, as the company has previously installed new and extended crane booms on these two vessels.
The work tasks in the contract include planning and coordination with suppliers as well as the manufacture and installation of the crane boom's new boom support, reinforcement of the crane base and various electrical and mechanical improvements in connection with the installation of new and improved cranes from GustoMSC, Semco Maritime said in a statement.
The manufacture of around 300 tons of steel structure will be initiated in early 2023 with expected installation on both vessels in the Port of Rotterdam in late 2023 and over a period of 5 months.
