Sales of heat pumps continued to grow in 2025. According to new official figures, more than 16,000 air/water heat pumps and geothermal heating systems, which typically replace oil and natural gas boilers, were sold. This corresponds to an increase of around 65 percent compared to the previous year.
This is stated by the Danish Heat Pump Industry in a press release.
The development has been stable throughout the year, and sales of smaller air/air heat pumps also grew. Here, sales ended at over 35,000 units, which are often installed in summer houses or used as a supplement to other heating.
- It is extremely pleasing that sales are growing quarter by quarter. This shows that Danish families are increasingly adopting the technology - at the expense of gas and oil boilers, says Niels Peter Skov, chairman of the Heat Pump Industry (VPI).
According to the industry association, both economics and climate considerations play a role in growth. At the same time, the organization points out that interest may gain further momentum in 2026.
- The market and the industry themselves have driven growth in 2025. This spring, the Heat Pump Fund will open with an increased subsidy of DKK 27,000 for Mr. and Mrs. Denmark. This will get more people in a green direction when they are faced with choosing a heating solution. As an industry, our focus is that the quality of products and installations remains high, says Niels Peter Skov.
