There are several private companies interested in bidding for the construction and partial ownership of Denmark's future energy island in the North Sea. A project that, with an estimated construction cost of over 200 billion DKK, will be the largest construction project in Danish history.

Two of the parties planning a joint bid are Ørsted and ATP. To support the bid, the parties have now entered into agreements with three engineers in the form of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Van Oord and Danish Per Aarsleff A/S.

With the agreement with the engineers, who all have skills in design and planning and experience from all over the world with offshore construction projects, Ørsted and ATP hope to form the basis for winning the tender for the energy island in the North Sea.

- The establishment of an energy island in the North Sea is an innovative and groundbreaking project and an important step towards solving the climate challenges. The combined expertise of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Van Oord and Aarsleff in offshore work will form a strong partnership, and we look forward to contributing to the project together with Ørsted and ATP, says Jesper Kristian Jacobsen, CEO of Per Aarsleff A/S.

The energy island in the North Sea is expected to be put out to tender in 2023.
