In order to keep pace with the green transition with a large production of electricity from solar and wind energy, there is a need for the electricity grid to be expanded and strengthened. Therefore, Energinet has plans for expansions across the country. These plans were presented in Energinet's "Long-term Development Plan 2024" in June last year.
One of these expansion projects is in North Jutland, where Energinet plans to install 150 kV high-voltage connections from Vendsysselværket, over Klim Fjordholme to Mosbæk. Here, two parallel 150 kV connections will be built as underground cables on part of the approximately 100 km long stretch, so that the electricity grid is strengthened. This requires an investment of 3.8 billion. DKK and this investment has just been approved by Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard, Energinet informs in a press release.
- Before we can start digging new cables in the ground and subsequently removing the old masts, a lot of planning work and official permits must be in place. For example, we need to enter into dialogue with the municipalities, and then we can start contacting landowners who may be affected. I can easily understand that landowners and neighbors, when they hear about this new project, would like a quick clarification of whether they can possibly have buried cables on their land, or that they want timetables for dismantling the masts. It will probably be during the spring and summer of 2025 that we can start reaching out to landowners and neighbors, says senior project manager Allan Vig Nielsen.
Construction work on high-voltage substations, cable laying and dismantling of overhead lines is expected to take place from winter 2027 to 2030? The project is expected to be operational in 2031.?
The map shows the routes for cable laying and the dismantling of existing
overhead lines and masts. High-voltage substations are also affected. In some cases, Energinet will move out of the existing stations, in other cases the high-voltage station will be rebuilt within the existing station area, and in third places a completely new high-voltage station will be built.
