The Danish Energy Agency has not received a single bid for any of the three offshore wind farms in the North Sea, which were part of Denmark's 6 GW offshore wind tender. The Danish Energy Agency writes in a press release.
– It is remarkable that no one has bid for the projects, when great interest has previously been expressed in them, the Danish Energy Agency states.
Based on the lack of interest, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard has asked the Danish Energy Agency to enter into a dialogue with the market to understand why no bids have been submitted.
– We need to uncover the barriers that may have prevented companies from bidding, so that we can ensure that the next tenders proceed as they should, says the minister.
The next offshore wind projects located in inland Danish waters – including Hesselø, Kattegat and Kriegers Flak II – have a bid deadline of April 1, 2025. According to the Danish Energy Agency, the total tendered projects represent a minimum capacity of 6 GW, but with the possibility of overplanting, the capacity can be increased to up to 10 GW.
The tender is designed without support and requires a fixed annual concession payment to the state over 30 years. The state will also have a co-ownership of 20 percent of the projects, which is combined with requirements for sustainability and social responsibility in their implementation.
