Polish PGE and Ørsted plan to build the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The Baltica 2 offshore wind farm is, with a capacity of 1.5 GW, one of the largest offshore wind turbine projects in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.
On the way to realizing the project, the partners have awarded a so-called WTG installation contract to Norwegian Fred. Olsen Windcarrier. The Norwegian company announced this in a statement.
With the conclusion of the contract, Fred. Olsen is scheduled to make one of its jack-up installation vessels available to install the 107 of the 14 MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines that are planned to make up the offshore wind farm.
- The Polish wind energy market is a high priority market for us, and we are extremely proud to be chosen by Ørsted and PGE as a reliable partner for this Polish project. This contract will continue to strengthen our relationship and we look forward to supporting Ørsted and PGE in the Baltica 2 project in Poland in 2027, says Alexandra Koefoed, CEO of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
PGE and Ørsted have not yet made a final investment decision for the Baltica 2 project.
