There is a long time until 2033, when the energy island in the North Sea should be ready with a capacity of 3 GW according to the latest schedules.

The initial seabed surveys will start in May, and it will still be two years before we even know who will build the energy island in collaboration with the Danish state.

We also do not know what the island will be called, although there have been many both good and entertaining bids, after Tommy Ahlers invited to a naming competition on Twitter in February.

Nevertheless, the joy of anticipation is great. Among other things, we know that the energy island will be a physical island a good 100 kilometers out in the North Sea. The design of the energy island is far from fixed, but several parties have been ready with their proposals for what the energy island in the North Sea might look like.

Previously, PFA, PensionDanmark, Andel and CPI have presented their proposals for what their vision for the energy island, which they have named VindØ, looks like.

Now the consulting company Cowi is the latest to enter the fray with a proposal for what the historic project should look like. Cowi's vision includes an underground PtX facility, a port, a heliport and a futuristic-looking visitor and knowledge center.

For now, however, it is all just speculation and hopes about what the energy island might contain.

The Danish Energy Agency has invited potential developers to a dialogue, which will take place later this year.
