Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality has set aside funds to support renewable energy facilitators, who must promote the dialogue between the local communities, landowners and the project developers in connection with planned solar cell and wind turbine projects. The aim is to ensure that the projects create local value. The local population can apply for up to DKK 60,000 to hire a renewable energy facilitator, who can help involve local interests and promote a constructive conversation about the development of the projects.
Out of the original 27 applications for solar cells and wind turbines that the municipality received, six projects have now been selected to go further in the process. These projects include approximately 1,000 ha of solar cells and potentially new wind turbines in the areas of Fjaldene and Sdr. Vium. The selected projects must go through a development process, where details about location, scope and local considerations will be clarified.
- A large majority in the City Council sees a PtX facility in our municipality as an obvious opportunity to support green business development and the municipality's climate policy, says mayor Hans Østergaard (V).
Although the projects are now moving forward in the process, nothing has yet been finally decided. The local areas, landowners and renewable energy developers will be involved, and an updated application will be presented before the politicians decide during the winter whether the municipality should initiate the actual planning. If the planning decision is made at the beginning of 2025, the first concrete actions regarding solar cells and wind turbines may still be several years in the future.
