RINGKØBING-SKJERN: Many have been eagerly awaiting how the Liberal Party's new mayoral candidate, Lone Andersen, would take the issue of renewable energy plants in the municipality.
The long-time mayor Hans Østergaard (V) has been facing headwinds among opponents of wind turbine and solar cell projects in the municipality, especially in the current period, and since then Mads Fuglede has announced his candidacy in the municipality for the Denmark Democrats with a clear mission to stop new renewable energy projects.
Lone Andersen has previously indicated that she wanted a 'solar cell timeout', and today the Liberal Party had called a press conference to present their new line on the matter.
Morten Dahlin (V), who is the Minister for Urban and Rural Areas, was also present at the press conference, which emphasizes that this is not just an important issue for the local Liberal Party group.
At the press conference, Lone Andersen said that in future, "significant" local support will be required to approve renewable energy projects - that a majority of the affected households in the area support it.
- If an application is made, there must be significant local support in the affected areas and provide added value both locally and in the municipality, says Lone Andersen at the press conference.
She also reassures citizens in Ringkøbing Skjern Municipality who are concerned about the number of new solar cell projects. Because it is not as bad anymore as it once seemed to be.
- Since at one time many thousands of solar cells were subscribed, I understand that people were uneasy about it. It is important for me to say that this is no longer the case, she says at the press conference.
