It happens regularly that Ørsted opens a new energy park, but it is rare that it is a new type of energy plant for the energy company. However, this is the case in Bee County in southern Texas. Here, the Helena Energy Center, a combined wind and solar energy project of 518 MW, has just been completed and inaugurated.
- Helena Energy Center is unique because it is Ørsted's first combined wind and solar energy project and the largest project in our global portfolio within onshore renewable energy. The project will leverage the Gulf of Mexico's strong coastal winds and abundant sunshine hours and will provide stable energy to the Texas grid and create economic opportunities for the local area, said David Hardy, executive vice president and regional director for the Americas at Ørsted, in a press release.

Helena Energy Center, which includes 66 wind turbines and over 600,000 solar panels. Ørsted has an additional 1.3 GW of onshore renewable energy under construction, of which approximately 1.1 GW is expected to be commissioned by 2024.
