Hofor is now starting to build the Fjenneslev Solar Park at Sorø. The park will be able to supply 51,000 households with green electricity, the utility company said in a statement.

The solar park is being built on 255 hectares north of the Vestmotorvejen on land owned by the Sorø Akademi Foundation. Sorø Municipality has granted a building permit, and Copenhagen Municipality, which is a co-owner of Hofor, has approved the project. The installation of solar panels will begin at the turn of the year.

- As the country's largest utility company, Hofor wants to actively contribute to the green transition by, among other things, building solar parks and wind farms in Denmark. We build wind and solar parks where citizens, businesses and authorities support the projects, and we have experienced this to a great extent with the Fjenneslev Solar Park. The Sorø Academy Foundation has been a strong local driving force in the development of the project, says Susanne Juhl, chairman of the board of directors of Hofor.

The park will have border planting of up to 4.5 meters high shrubs and will be planted with wild flowers and grass between the panels. Sheep will graze the area, and fauna passages will ensure that larger animals can move freely through the area.

Hofor expects the solar park to begin supplying electricity from the turn of the year 2026/2027.
