ALBERTSLUND: Albertslund Municipality's Climate Company ApS has just inaugurated its first solar cell system, which is installed on the roof of the hall at Herstedvester School. The system covers 235 m² and will function as a test system for an upcoming tender round for solar cells on several municipal buildings. This is what Albertslund Municipality writes.

- This is exactly what we wanted with the establishment of the climate company, namely; that we can utilize the roofs on our municipal roofs to be included in our green energy supply. Albertslund has always been in the green lead, and this is another example of our desire to find green solutions and boost the green transition, says Mayor Steen Christiansen (S).

The solar cell system can produce approx. 50,000 kWh annually, which corresponds to the electricity consumption of 11 detached houses. The climate company expects to establish five to six similar plants within the next two to three years.

- The plant is not huge. But it is important. Because it shows that we can. That we are working. That we are taking action, says chairwoman of the Environment and Urban Affairs Committee Marianne Ramberg Burchall (S).

The climate company was founded in 2024 with inspiration from Aarhus Municipality and aims to promote the production of renewable energy in the municipality's own buildings. The model is based on the fact that the electricity produced is primarily used locally in the municipality's own buildings, and the company should not make a profit, but rather run around and contribute to the green transition.
