European Energy has just inaugurated its first hybrid park, combining solar and wind energy.

The park, located in Sweden, consists of eight wind turbines with a total capacity of 49.6 MW and a solar park of 39.3 MWp. Annual production is expected to be around 126 GWh - equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 25,000 households.

According to the company, the combination of solar and wind provides more stable energy production, as the sun typically delivers most during the day and in the summer, while the wind produces mainly at night and in the winter months. The hybrid park is connected to a single point on the electricity grid, which has reduced the costs of both construction and operation.

- This is a milestone for renewable energy in Sweden, but also for European Energy, as it is our first hybrid park that we have developed, built and operated ourselves, says Thorvald Spanggaard, Executive Vice President of European Energy.

Country Manager in Sweden, Peter Braun, also emphasizes that the combined production ensures smarter use of the electricity grid.

The so-called Skåramåla park is the first of three planned solar-wind projects in Sweden.
