Since 2022, European Energy has been present in Australia with an office in Melbourne, and the company has a portfolio of over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity under development in the country.
The portfolio has just been expanded as European Energy has acquired the project rights to two solar projects in Australia from the Swedish developer OX2. The two projects are located in the states of Victoria and New South Wales. Construction of both projects is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, European Energy said in a statement.
- We are excited to expand our presence in Australia with these two new solar projects. With our strong Australian team, we are committed to bringing the two solar farms into operation, which will not only contribute to increased availability of renewable energy on the Australian grid, but also create more opportunities for local Australians in the renewable energy sector,” says Catriona McLeod, Country Manager for European Energy in Australia.
Lancaster Solar Farm in Victoria will have a capacity of 106 MW and is expected to be operational in 2026. Mulwala Solar Farm in New South Wales will have a capacity of 31 MW and is also scheduled for completion in 2026. Together, the projects are expected to generate approximately 255 GWh of renewable energy annually, which is enough to power around 54,000 Australian households.
