ESBJERG: At the end of June, Esbjerg Municipality's annual report on the municipality's climate efforts landed, which provides both a status of the climate plan's efforts - and the latest figures on the municipality's geographical emissions.
The report shows that Esbjerg has reduced its CO2 emissions by 20.1 percent from 2019-2023.
- It gives motivation to keep going and continue our ambitious climate efforts, says chairman of the Climate & Environment Committee, Jørgen Ahlquist (S).
It is the energy sector in particular that contributes to the large reductions. In addition, two initiatives in particular have been particularly well received by the citizens of Esbjerg Municipality.
One is a climate action fund, which has so far provided funds for seven local projects. The second initiative is the 3-year pilot project, 'Lend an electric bike', where citizens can borrow an electric bike or an electric cargo bike for a month to try it out in their everyday lives before having to take the money out of their own pockets and invest.
