In recent years, energy prices have been at very high levels, and although they have now calmed down to a lower level, the period of high prices has made more people consider how they can become more self-sufficient in energy.
One of the options is a solar cell system on the roof. And several companies are considering this option. At least that is the experience of the energy company Energi Fyn, which has led an increasing number of companies to investigate the possibilities of utilizing their roof areas to install solar cells and thus get a lower energy bill and a greener profile.
- Our energy advisors are busy, and it is especially questions about solar cells that are taking up space with companies, says Theis Riber Fjord, sales manager at Energi Fyn, in a press release.
Energi Fyn's energy advisors help companies get an overview of their energy consumption and the savings potential by investing in solar cells. Since the turn of the year alone, Energi Fyn has assessed the economics and CO2 emission reduction of more than 20 solar cell projects.
Opportunity for both a green conscience and a clean bill of health
For many companies, installing a solar cell system can provide very good value, both economically and to strengthen the company's green profile.
With a correctly dimensioned solar cell system, companies can often cover between 80-100 percent of their consumption with self-produced electricity from a solar cell system.
- Self-produced electricity is settled 1-1. This means that electricity produced from a solar cell system replaces purchased kWh including taxes if the company uses the electricity when it is produced. There can therefore be significant savings from day 1, says Theis Riber Fjord,
Generally, production from solar cells is increasing in Denmark. Thus, solar cell capacity has tripled from 2020 to 2023. And figures from Green Power Denmark show that in the first half of 2024, green electricity from wind turbines and solar cells overtook electricity from fossil fuels in the EU for the first time ever. Energi Fyn will continue to push for this development.
- Our energy advice gives companies a fact-based decision-making basis so that they can choose the most energy-optimizing measure. It may be that we recommend solar cells, but it may also be that other energy-reducing measures are more suitable, says Theis Riber Fjord.
