Almost three out of four shop stewards in Dansk Metal believe that a strong German economy will have a positive impact on their company's financial statements, while only 44 percent expect to be affected by higher tariffs from the United States. This is written by Dansk Metal.
- This helps to emphasize that a strong German and European economy is crucial for Danish industrial companies. We always talk about the United States being our largest trading partner. That is true when it comes to kroner and øre, but when it comes to jobs, exports to Germany are much more important, says Erik Bjørsted, chief economist at Dansk Metal.
According to the survey, the vast majority of shop stewards assess that their company is in a strong position. Many expect an increase in incoming orders, and a large proportion report a shortage of qualified labor. As many as 65 percent of the union representatives respond that their workplace lacks skilled personnel.
A shortage of labor leads to overtime in several places, and according to Dansk Metal, this can create challenges if companies do not invest in technological solutions that can increase productivity in the long term.
- It is always positive when people are working. However, several of the union representatives say that they have to work overtime because companies have difficulty finding the companies they need. This may work in the short term, but if the challenges are to be solved in the long term, it requires, among other things, that companies make the necessary investments in robots and automation, says Erik Bjørsted.
The study is based on responses from 470 union representatives from all over the country.
