The EU's decision to phase out Russian gas by 2027 has the full support of both DI and Tekniq.

The Confederation of Danish Industry calls the decision a necessary step away from Russian energy.

- This is absolutely the right way to go, and it is good that the member states have agreed. We must completely move away from Russian energy, says Deputy Director for Energy at DI Troels Ranis in a press release.

He points to biogas as a central part of the solution and reminds us that since the invasion of Ukraine, the EU has spent around 1,500 billion DKK in Russian energy.

According to DI, today's decision does not affect the gas supply in Denmark, as we have high security of supply and are a net exporter.

Tekniq also calls the decision historic.

- It is a huge victory and a decisive step towards a more robust and independent energy supply, says CEO Troels Blicher Danielsen.

He emphasizes that the phase-out requires a significant pace in electrification, more heat pumps and a stronger electricity grid.

- The phase-out can only succeed if we change the way we use energy. This means more heat pumps, more energy efficiency and an electricity grid that can handle a higher load. The EU has taken an important step. Now the member states must deliver the national plans that translate the decision into concrete green momentum, he says.
